SOUNDING BODY

Sound is the essence of form which we bring to life from the inside out

Sounding Body is a collaboration between Katya Barton and Bethan Lloyd. A continuous discovery into the power of the human voice and sound. We host yearly retreats and workshops on the sacred land of Cae Mabon at the foothill of Snowdonia, Wales.

‘A transformative, spontaneous and healing experience through past, present and future, facilitated by two very brave souls.’ - Hena Shanti, CAE Mabon retreat

Mission

What if we created a culture where every individual felt empowered to express their unique voice?

What if we could enter into a container where we felt safe enough to move beyond the judgements of the mind, to step beyond our conditioning and express from our essence?

What if we remembered our nature as musical and harmonious beings, creating music in complete surrender and improvisational choir?

What does it take to truly let go? To touch the depths of the unknown, release control and allow your song to move you? To let the collective song be sung through you?

“I don’t think there are words to easily describe what Sounding Body does. It’s a singing retreat - yes, and so much more. I jokingly call it a “witchery”, because it really feels that something extremely profound, indescribable yet palpable to all, happens during the retreats. After the 5 day immersive, in which we listened, cried, found melodies for trees, yelled, yawned, swung, held each other and ourselves, while breaking open - I left transformed. I could feel my whole body, all the way to my pinky toe, as I was walking - not just my head, as typically. I noticed I was standing differently. I felt more brave. I felt great taking up space. I felt more wholeness in how I am, more clarity and easier recognition of my emotions. And the effect has been lasting. The effect has me singing to myself and to nature, still, almost a year after the retreat. What a catalyst to a new way of being.” - Lina Plioplyte, Film Director
