‘‘When I arrived I was battling with a sense of belonging and feeling separate and different. But it’s been so beautiful seeing that melt away over the weekend . The work really helped me to get out of that space and connect with the group. We just kept getting stronger and stronger and in the end becoming like family. Now I do feel like I belong and that we belong. We belong to the land, we belong to the work, it belongs to us and we belong to it, and thats really the feeling that I’m left with’’

“I have used my voice in so many different ways, I’ve channelled and been silent and been in community and been alone, and it was all held with a softness that meant all the emotions that came up for me throughout also felt soft, and that was so valuable and helpful for processing because I felt so quietly, comfortably and easily held by everybody here and it feels like it will just continue to unravel and flow.”

PHILIPPA YOUNG, FILMMAKER

“Its hard to talk about really because the space that we go into as a group is just so ‘un-wordy’ I don't really know how to reflect on it in words, but I love how the sounds that we created collectively were just so synchronised and spontaneous and its so refreshing to be back in that spontaneous space and I feel like I have been given so many tools to take into my personal practice”

JACK, PARTICIPANT DARTMOOR RETREAT

“SoundingBody is as integral an approach to mind-body synthesis as I've found - a masterful nexus of voice therapy, meditation, ritual, and embodied trance.’’

ESCOTT REID, PARTICIPANT CAE MABON RETREAT

“The space that was created has been a remembering of things that I really needed to remember. I just feel so much more connected and I can see how the seeds that have been planted here and the energy that has been built will just continue to grow and move forward.”

COLETTE PATERSON, ARTIST / CURATOR

“I’d been through a difficult break up and had lost a close relative before the retreat. The improvised singing and focus on introspection helped me open up to deep healing through the expression of my sound. After the retreat I felt a huge confidence boost and a greater sense of belonging which has since remained.”

ROSS BRADBURY, WRITER / PHILOSOPHER

“A transformative, spontaneous and healing experience through past, present and future, facilitated by two very brave souls. Would highly recommend going on a journey with them”

HENA SHANTI, CAE MABON PARTICIPANT

“I ventured with Bethan and Katya on their Wild Voice workshop and came out feeling exhilarated, connected, and deeply at peace with myself and others. They took us on a deeply integrative and explorative adventure with our bodies, hearts, and souls, which was both personal and collective. In the few hours we had, a tribe was created and the communal sound experience taken to a level I’d never experienced before, which felt out of this world.”

CARLY, PARTICIPANT LONDON WORKSHOP

“How in 3 hours it was possible to ignite the group members, so that they sang with their natural voices, or, with the voice of their soul, is a puzzle for the mind, but after the first half of the workshop, everyone, even those who sang for the first time in public, sang as though they could be brave enough to go on stage. And this is due to the merit of the facilitators. They very quickly taught the group: 1) listen to your voice, i.e. yourself and at the same time hear others, 2) sound throughout the space of the room and find your own ways to sound, 3) remove restrictions and blocks when you play with the voice, 4) support other participants in their voice self-expression. For me, this workshop was about the voice, but also about life, connecting with people, the social conditioning of the mind and full acceptance with the heart.”
